From Canada John began his comedy career with cultist trio The Bouncing Sheep, an all singing traveling sketch and improv show where he won the coveted “Craven A Talent Search”. (and all the smokes we could handle). A favorite on the Canadian University scene. John has spent the last 15 years in Australia doing standup, impro comedy, acting and playing his beloved harmonica. John is known to many comedy goers for his goofy chaps-wearing, rodeo evangelist, Billy, from Gods Cowboys. As part of the meat worshipping, angels of anarchy, he stormed Adelaide’s Fringe Festival in 1994 with rampant irreverence and parodies like the Elvis meets Jesus classic, In The Grotto Sydney has seen him direct and star in his shows including IMPROZAC, the improvised Hospital serial which ran for three years at the Harold Park Comedy Hotel. Other productions John has performed in include; Who Killed Santa, Off The Cuff, The Royal Rumble, Abandon Script, Extreme TheatreSports, he recently directed, produced and starred in The Comedy Improlympiad at Belvoir Street Theater.
Cops On Heat a non scripted piss take of every Police and Detective show ever made was formed when he meet convict Murray Fahey who shared his dream with him while awaiting bail.
John is also famous in Oz for his part in the gate crashing duo AUTHORISED. Together with Steve Walsh perform an act that combines Super hero costumes with tiny Mini Dv Cameras hidden in World War 2 Flying helmets. This dynamic duo take to the streets to solve mysteries, break rules and generally get thrown out of a lot of expensive joints. Steve and John recently produced the short film BUGLINGUAL which came 2nd in the Bug Fest film contest, John plays the only character, a simple man who can communicate with Volkswagon Beetles. John has been described as a cross between Don Knotts, Don Adams and Don Rickles. In Cops On Heat John plays the Rookie, a raucous spontaneous journey through the land of TV cops and robbers. It combines the skills of standup, improvised, physical and occasionally musical comedy.
